Our vast experience in the service of the art of brewing

We give our best to create flavoursome special beers

The legendary Kulmbacher art of brewing can be traced as far back as 1349, to the first concrete signs of a brewery set-up in Kulmbach. <link internal-link internen link im aktuellen>Kulmbacher Brauerei was born some years later in 1846, when the 'brewer citizens' joined forces to form Reichelbräu. Since 1996, Kulmbacher's various traditional brands have been collectively owned by Kulmbacher Brauerei AG.

Four ingredients and a lot of devotion for plenty of variety and enjoyment

Our master brewers bring a lot of love to the wide range of special beers they create. This means catering for our customers' many different tastes and preferences – whether for various Pils types, versions of 'hell' (pale), export, or 'dunkel' (dark) beer, or even top-fermented special beers.

When making our special beers, we abide by <link internal-link internen link im aktuellen>the Bavarian Purity Law and only use natural raw materials sourced mainly from our region: barley malt, wheat malt, hops and water.

A keen sense for one of the world's oldest drinks

For some years now, we have been offering beer sommelier training to both our brewers and interested employees from all parts of the business. During the training, the would-be sommeliers are schooled in the sensory aspects of beer and the right techniques for serving the drink. They also learn a lot about beers from all around the world and the various styles of beer out there. Having passed the course, the trainees are then able to evaluate and classify beers on the basis of objective criteria.

By developing our employees this way, we benefit from having thoroughly trained and highly informed employees right across the business, who are able to provide our customers with advice and information. And, of course, it also makes us even better at developing high-quality and flavoursome special beers.

Our expertise in the service of the environment

By using modern and environmentally friendly technologies, we can be sure of using raw and additional materials economically. Our success is based on the way we go about our work, with an emphasis on both <link internal-link internen link im aktuellen>quality and what is good for the environment. And this is why we are constantly committed to raising the bar through innovative collaboration.

We have also been promoting the culture of brewing and beer for many years now with the work we do for the museums at the Kulmbacher Mönchshof site, including the Bavarian Museum of Brewing. Here, visitors to the 'glass brewery' can learn at first hand from the master brewer how beer, with all its cultural heritage, is actually brewed. While touring the museum, those who may be interested can also discover, in a visual way, the history of beer and everything about the raw materials to be used – as stipulated by the Purity Law of 1516.
